Worship
We believe that we are created by God to worship Him, and that glorifying God is the ultimate reason for our existence (John 4:23-24). Therefore, we will seek biblical worship which stresses the presence and the majesty of God. Our worship should be God-directed and God-focused. We desire for every aspect of our lives to be marked by the joyful worship of God.
Prayer
We believe that prayer is the privilege and responsibility of every Christian, and that God unleashes His power and leading in the lives of those who spend time in prayer (Matthew 6:7; 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Therefore, we will intentionally seek to set aside specific times for private, family and corporate prayer.
Bible-based Church
Every ministry of our church must be rooted in God's Word. The Bible is inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed, and therefore, must be the final authority for everything our church believes and does (II Timothy 3:16). We believe that the preaching and teaching of God's Word is the catalyst for change in people's lives, and therefore, holds the highest priority. (Isaiah 40:8)
Missions
We are committed to the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) of Jesus Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. The focus of our missionary endeavor begins in our own community--our own "Jerusalem" (Acts 1:8), and every member has a responsibility to be a witness in the way God wants to use us where we live, work, go to school, and play. We also have a heart for the whole world. We fulfill our commitment to missions through prayer, active ministry to the physical and spiritual needs (James 2:15-17) of people in our community and throughout the world, and financial support of Missionary offerings like Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong.
Evangelism
We are not a church that simply exists for ourselves. We exist for others. We look beyond the walls of our church to serve and minister to non-Christians, demonstrating to them the love of Christ. Because of this, we must seek to connect with those that live in our community and around the world. While our mission and our message never change, our methods of accomplishing our mission must change, as lead by God, in order to reach more people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. We do not believe it is the responsibility of the lost to seek the church, but our responsibility to seek the lost (Matthew 28:19-20).
Discipleship
We believe all followers of Jesus Christ are called to grow in their faith and to become like Him. We desire that our ministries equip members to serve by developing spiritual maturity and provide opportunities for discovering their spiritual gifts, passions, and places of service. (Ephesians 4:11-13, II Timothy 2:2)
Directed by the Holy Spirit
We depend on the Spirit of God for our direction as a church (John 16:13; Romans 8:14) and for the spiritual resources to fulfill our calling. We rely on private and corporate prayer to discern God's will (James 1:5) in the conception, planning, and implementation of all of the ministries and activities of our church.
Family Ministry
We believe that the family is God’s foundational institution for human society (Matthew 19:5-6; Ephesians 5:22-6:4). Therefore, we encourage lifelong commitments to marriage between one man and one woman; we support the ongoing spiritual nurturing of the family; and, we are committed to honoring the priority of family time through our ministries and activities. While the church is called to make disciples, it is clear that God has given the family as the primary agent for discipleship. Children are entrusted to parents for their spiritual nurturing (Genesis 12:8; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 78:5-8; Psalm 113:3; Ephesians 6:1-4; II Tim. 3:14-15). We also believe in loving and serving each other as a church family (John 15:12–14).
Stewardship
We believe that biblical stewardship involves the proper management of all that God has given us ... time, money, abilities, etc. ... to expand His kingdom (1 Corinthians 4:2; 1 Peter 4:10). Therefore, we encourage every member to adopt a lifestyle of stewardship that recognizes God’s ownership of everything and to practice the biblical principle of tithing and sacrificial giving.
Benevolence
We believe in compassionate care (Matthew 25:34-40). We feel that as a church we should use our blessings from God to benefit others in need within our body of believers and in our community. (James 2:15-17) It is our responsibility to care for widows, orphans and homebound members in our church (James 1:27).
